ABOUT JAMEY

Jamey Temple is a writer, artist, and mentor based in Eastern Kentucky. She is the author of the chapbook The Core Spins Faster Than the Surface (Bottlecap Press), and her poetry and prose have appeared in publications including Fourth Genre, River Teeth, Rattle, Appalachian Review, Literary Mama, and Bending Genres. Her work has been named a finalist for Newfound Journal's Prose Prize, Fourth Genre's Multimedia Essay Prize, and Wavelength's Chapbook Contest, and has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of Microfiction. She is the recipient of an Artist Enrichment Grant from the Kentucky Foundation for Women and the Excellence in Teaching Award from University of the Cumberlands.

 

Working across writing and visual media, Jamey is passionate about fostering creativity, storytelling, and meaningful community connections through the arts. She serves as the Community Arts Agent with the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service, where she develops arts programming and creative initiatives throughout the region. Prior to joining UK Extension, she taught English at University of the Cumberlands for 18 years, mentoring students in writing, literature, and creative practice.
